Worked example
The method
A net amount is multiplied by 1 plus the VAT rate as a decimal. At 20%, a net €100 becomes €120 gross.
A gross amount is divided by 1 plus the VAT rate. This avoids the common mistake of subtracting the VAT percentage directly.
